2015年のデビューアルバムで賞を総なめしたJames。
今年2018年に2nd Album 「Electric Light」をリリースし、今年は、自分のツアーとThe Rolling Stonesのツアーもこなすと言う大躍進、大忙しの一年のようだ。

Lyraは、Jamesの繊細でありながら情熱的な歌詞が好きだ。
格好つけるわけでもなくストレートにわかりやすい言葉が、自然と入ってくるし、歌が上手いのもあってハートを捕まれてしまった。
ついこの間の８月２日に新譜『Electric Light』から４枚目のシングル【Just For The Night】がリリースされたばかり。
今日Lyraの頭の中でグルグル回っている、と言うのがこの曲だ。
つい聴いたのがまずかった(笑)。
そうしたら、この曲が１日中脳内祭りのように流れ出し、Jamesの声が回っている。
だから今日和訳したら少しは落ち着くかなぁ、と思ったの。

“Just For The Night” was released 10 Auguest 2018.
And the album was released on 18 May 2018 through Republic Records.

１６歳の時からパブとかで歌って来ただけあって客の乗せ方が上手い。
バラードに定評のあるJamesだけど【Just For Tonight】みたいなアップテンポの曲も凄く良いんだよね。
この人が不思議なのはイギリス人なのにアメリカ人みたいな音を出す事。
Lyraは、これ聴くと「Brian AdamsやJohn Cooger Melemcampの新曲じゃないの？」と思ってしまう。土臭いアメリカンロックを感じるのだ。
それも、土臭いロックを感じさせてしまう理由だろう。
Blue Eyed Soul 白人ソウルって言い方あまり好きじゃないんだが、彼がそう言われるのも分かる。
そのJames Bayの特徴が良い意味で滲み出ているのがこの曲【Just For Tonight】なのだ。

LyraはJames Bayという人は、自分の事を良く理解している人だと思う。
この曲の歌詞は、サビが全て。
「今夜だけで良いから一緒にいてよ」と彼女に言ってる歌だ。
暗いところへ行こうよ、なんて、一瞬「お前、変態か？」と突っ込み入れたくなるストレートすぎる歌詞があるけど、曲全体には、あちこちに自信なさげな事を言ってる。

って、
「James, アナタ乙女ですか？」と聴きたくなるくらいモジモジしてる。
この少年ぽい感じ？
細い線のイメージのウルウルお目目で言われたら世の女性たちは、
「きゅんっ」としてしまうだろう。
だ・か・ら、Jamesは、自分のキャラが分かって書いてんじゃないかなあーと感じているLyraです。
これって俗に言う、あざといって奴ですかね、皆さん！

LyraがJamesが良いなって思うのは、今、お話したような言葉選びのセンスが良くて良い意味であざとい？のも「やるな」と思ってしまう所、、、そして、やはり歌の上手さだと感じる。
勿論、声が良いのもある。
本当は低い声が好きなの。
彼らに比べたらJames の声は高め。
だからそんなタイプじゃない筈なんだけど、優しく囁いたりシャウトしたりJamesは自分の声を操るのが上手い！
昨日だか、新しくアコースティックバージョンもリリース・配信されている。
それがまた歌の上手さが際立てている。
勿論、上手いだけでなくJamesの声は色気があってSexy。
聴いていて飽きない色気のある声だ。
ムムムム、やっぱりコヤツ、己が分かっているということか？
えー、じゃ、LyraはJamesの自己プロデュースに、まんまとやられてしまったと言うことか？！

James Michael Bay (born 4 September 1990) released his single “【Hold Back The River】 Back the River”, (2014) which has been certified platinum, before releasing his debut studio album Chaos and the Calm (2015). The album went to number one in the UK and number 15 in the US. In February 2015, Bay received the Brit Awards “Critics’ Choice” award.
At the 2016 Brit Awards he received the award for Best British Male Solo Artist. Bay also received three nominations at the 2016 Grammy Awards, for Best New Artist, Best Rock Album, and Best Rock Song.
In May 2018, he released this his second studio album, Electric Light.
On 7 March 2018, Bay announced that his second album was called Electric Light and would be released on 18 May 2018.
In a press release, he said: “If I had to describe my first album visually it would probably be a flame – while this new album is about a real sonic and artistic evolution for me. The feeling of a 100 watt bulb expanding and brightening is what I envisioned. Electric Light came to my mind and I knew it was perfect.”
