今日Lyraが和訳 & 紹介するのは、アメリカ合衆国 オハイオ州コロンバス出身のロック・デュオ Twenty One Pilots トゥエンティ・ワン・パイロッツ（Twenty One Pilots、TWENTY ØNE PILØTS、時々TØPと略される。)。

かなりのCoreなファンが付いている、2人組さん。
でも、元は３piece バンドで、2009年に大学の同級生だった、Vocalの Tyler Joseph タイラー・ジョセフ(写真で飛んでる方)と、元メンバーの Nick Thomas ニック・トーマス、 Chris Salih クリス・サハリで結成されたの。(Vocal 以外は2009年のアルバムリリース後、脱退した)。
現在は、2011年に House of HorsesのDrumsの Josh Dun ジョッシュ・ダンとの２人組になり固定されたみたい。
2009年12月に自主制作アルバム「Twenty One Pilots 」リリースや地道なツアーを重ねて2010年にメジャーヒットを当ててから、2012年にFueled by Ramenと契約。
翌年にグレッグ・ウェルズをプロデューサーに迎えた三枚目のアルバム『Vessel』をリリース。
チャートの常連に一時期なっていたから、彼らを知らい人でも、音はチラッと街中で聞いたんじゃないかしら。
その売れ線具合から、ちゃんと聞いたことがないロック好きさんからは、「ポップじゃないの？」と、犬猿されそうだけど、彼らの音はモノホンの悪よ(笑)。
ディープなオハイオ事情は知らないけど、悪さ具合がわざとらしく無くて歌詞を聞いててLyraは楽しいです。

Twenty One Pilots (stylized as twenty one pilots, and sometimes as twenty øne piløts) is an American musical duo originating from Columbus, Ohio.
The band was formed in 2009 by lead vocalist Tyler Joseph along with former members Nick Thomas and Chris Salih, who left in 2011, and currently consists of Joseph and drummer Josh Dun. The duo rose to fame in the mid-2010s after several years of touring and independent releases.
“Heathens” is a song by Twenty One Pilots, released as the lead single for the motion picture soundtrack for the film Suicide Squad (2016) on June 16, 2016, through Atlantic Records and Warner Bros. Records.
The song was written by Tyler Joseph and produced by him along with Mike Elizondo. “Heathens” peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, tying with “Stressed Out” for the duo’s highest charting single to date. “Heathens” was nominated for three Grammy Awards at the 59th annual awards ceremony.

歌詞は、書き下ろしなだけあってDC Comicsの悪キャラたちに合う仕上がり。
Lyraが一番好きなアメコミキャラクターのBatman の適役が集まったSuicide Squad の仲間について歌っている。
だけど、歌詞の一部文が違うのもあるみたいね。
日本盤を買わないから知らないんだけど、歌詞の表記が違うのかしら？
You’re lovin’ on the psychopath sitting next you など三ヶ所が、
You’ll never know the psychopath〜にしてる人が日本は多いみたいなんだよね。
あと、Docked awayが look awayになってるのもあるんだよ。
だから、Lyraは聴いて みて You’re lovin’ on the psychopath sitting next you に聴こえるからこちらで訳しました。
やってる感じ。
この歌詞は、悪さばかりしてる自分の仲間を、新しく知り合った子に説明してるわけ。
「ヤバイ奴らだから、大人しくしてろよ」とアドバイスしながら仲間を 紹介しているの。
それは、映画の悪役達がフリークショー( 怪しい見世物小屋)ばりのキャラが濃い悪党や犯罪者を紹介しているんだけど、
実は、Twenty One Pilotsの昔からのDeep なファンのことを、最近、ヒットチャートなんかで知ったばかりの新しいファンに紹介している風でもあるのよね。
なんかね、「Twenty One Pilots」 や「TWENTY ØNE PILØTS 」「 TØP 」と書くのは良いんだけど、面倒臭いからと「21 pilots」書くとファンに怒られるんだよ。
マジ怖くない？
それだけ、彼らの事を愛しているんだろうね。
その気持ちわかるよ。

彼らの魅力はワルな歌詞だけじゃなくて、曲の構成、作りがしっかりしてるから。
Twenty One Pilotsは、ピアノ、キーボード、ショルダーキーボード、シンセサイザー、ドラム（電子ドラム）、ボーカル、ウクレレとベースなどいろんな楽器、男をミックスしている多面的さがある反面、一番重きを置いているのは、Tyler が書く詩だ。
歌詞に重要性を感じているバンドが大好きだから、これはLyraにはかなりポイントが高い。
その歌詞は、長過ぎた場合は、ラップにする必要があると、ジョセフは言っていて、この曲もラップあるでしょう？
良い展開をもたらしている。
Lyraは、Tyler のラップがブラックぽくて好きだ。
ちょっとSting が真似して歌っていた歌い方に似てる気がする。
確か、Twenty One PilotsはThe Policeが好きだったよね。
リスペクトから、似てしまったのか？
または、意識してるのかもね。

Twenty One Pilotsの音楽性は、
オルタナティブ・ヒップホップ、
エレクトロ・ポップ、
インディー・ポップ、
ロックと言われているが、
今、お話したようにいきなりラップになったり、いきなりメタルぽくなったりする彼らの音楽性をカテゴライズするのは難しいだろう。
ただ、ファンやメンバーは、サブジャンルな「trash」とか、
「スキゾフレニア・ポップ（またの名をスキッゾォ・ポップ）」と位置づけている。
譲れないポリシーがあるんだろうね。
その多様性があるサウンドに乗る歌詞は、キリスト教神学についての引喩と神についてのメッセージが多い。
日本人は仏教徒が多いが、神に強く日常的に信仰を表す人は少ない。
信心深いカソリックからしたら、現在の日本人は無神論者に近い。
多分、理解しにくいかもしれないね。
でも、彼らの歌詞を深くわかりたいひとは、全てのメンバーがキリスト教徒でもあるので、少し神について考えてみると、より深くTwenty One Pilotsを知れるでしょう。
このような特徴からLyraは、Twenty One Pilotsは最新型なミクスチャーサウンドのバンドだと言いたい。
最新式のようなシンセやギターサウンドを出したかと思うと、急に懐かしいレゲエ風になったりする。
歌詞は、若者のダークサイドを歌いかながらも、昔から心の支えである神を讃える。
最新式と昔からの王道なサウンドのごちゃ混ぜは、時代を超えて響き渡り、
若者の気持ちと、普遍的な神への信仰は、時代だけでなく国境を超えて轟続けるだろう。
それは、良いにしろ悪きにしろ貴方の中のくすぶっている想いを刺激してくれるかもしれない。
そして一度ハマったら、ズブズブとTwenty One Pilots の描く世界に取り込まれるだろう。

They put out two self-released albums, Twenty One Pilots in 2009 and Regional at Best in 2011, before being signed by Fueled by Ramenin 2012. Their label debut, Vessel, was released in 2013. The duo achieved breakthrough success with their fourth album, Blurryface(2015), which produced the successful singles “Stressed Out” and “Ride”. In addition, the single “Heathens”, recorded for the soundtrack of the film Suicide Squad, made the group the first alternative artist to have two concurrent top ten singles in the U.S. The duo has won a Grammy Award for Best Pop.

ファンダム
このバンドのファンダム(マーク)は、「 Skeleton Clique スケルトン・クリーク」と呼ばれているが、多くのファンは単に「クリーク（clique)」と呼ぶ。
スケルトン・クリークにはロゴが2つあり、長い縦の線にいくつかの短い横線が重なって表示されている。
左側にはエイリアン、右側には頭蓋骨のような頭がある。
According to the band, their purpose for making music is “to make people think”, as well as encourage them to find joy in what they come to believe in life.
The band’s fandom has been dubbed the “Skeleton Clique” or just the Clique, in reference to the band’s use of skeleton iconography in many performances, graphics, and music videos. The Skeleton Clique are represented in the band’s official iconography by logos of a skull and alien head atop lines resembling keys.
Salih speculates that Tyler Joseph himself originally used the term “Clique” to identify with his fans.
During the 2017 Tour de Columbus, Twenty One Pilots hosted a public art show, dubbed “Artopia”, exclusively for Clique-related artwork at the Nationwide Arena.
On June 15, 2016, Twenty One Pilots tweeted a message in Morse code which read “takeitslow”, a lyric taken from the song “Heathens”.
On the same day, the song leaked onto the Internet. The following day, June 16, it was revealed that the song would be featured on the motion picture soundtrack for the 2016 American superhero film based on the DC Comics antihero team Suicide Squad. The soundtrack was released on August 5, 2016.
As I was writing the song I was like, I want this song to be a Twenty One Pilots song first. And I want it to resonate with our fans and make sense at our show. Even though the themes in the movie inspired the beginning of it, as the lyrics came together, and as the song came together, I realized, like, this was our song.
“Heathens” is a rap rock song. It is played in the key of E Minor. The vocals in the song span from E4 to G5.
