beabadoobeeとは

beabadoobeeは、2000年6月3日フィリピンイロイロ市生まれ。３歳の時にイギリス移住。

俗に言うwest london で育ち、1980年代のオリジナルである、ピノイ ミュージックやポップ ミュージック、ロック ミュージックを聴いていたそう。

10代の頃、カレン・オー、ヤー・ヤー・ヤーズ、フローリスト、アレックス・Gなどのインディー・ロックを聴いていたbeebadoobeは、ハマースミス アカデミーで 13 年生を終える前にセイクリッド ハート高校に転校、7 年間ヴァイオリンを習い、17 歳で初めてギターを中古で手に入れ音楽を始めた後2017年から本格的に音楽活動を開始。

ギターで書いた初めての曲は【Coffee】(2017年)で、YouTubeで30万回以上の再生回数を獲得。Dirty Hit Recordsからのオファーに繋がり、2018年2月にデビューEP『Lice』、12月に2作目の EP『Patched Up』をリリース。

ティーンエイジャーの不安定で、繊細な危うさが丸裸になったサウンドが、ティーンや若者層にバカウケ。今の人気を得ている、

2019年『Loveworm』と『Space Cadet』の2枚のEPをリリース。これがイギリスの音楽祭典NME Awardsで Radar Award(新人賞) 受賞。

そして同国BBCが有力新人を選出する名物企画 Sound of 2020 にノミネートされ、YouTubeでも新しいアーティストを紹介するキャンペーン「Artist On The Rise 2020」に選ばれている。

2019年1月、NMEが毎年発表している期待の新人のリスト「NME 100」にBille Eilish ビリー・アイリッシュと共に選出された。4月に3作目のEP『Loveworm』をリリース。9月、Clairoのツアーのサポートアクトを務め、10月には4枚目のEP『Space Cadet』をリリースし、25日にはNMEの表紙を飾った。12月ブリット・アワードでライジング・スター賞のショートリストに選ばれた。さらに、毎年恒例のBBCが期待の新人を発表する音楽評論家投票「Sound of 2020」でロングリスト入りを果たす。

【Talk】について

3月21日、アルバム『Beatpia』の先行シングルであるこの【Talk】をリリース。

【Talk】はエネルギッシュなギター主導の曲だ。beabadoobee は火曜日の夜に外出することが多い彼女の通常の日々について話している歌詞だ。

2022 年 3 月 23 日、彼女はインタビューで NME と話して

「最初のアルバムの直後に【Talk】を書きました。火曜日に夢中になったのは、外に出るのに最高の夜だと思ったからです。混沌としすぎず、楽しい時間を過ごすのに十分だから。一般的にそれは、 必ずしも健康的でも素晴らしいものでもありませんが、甘やかさずにはいられない、あなたが得る避けられない感情のようなもので、あなたはそれを取り除くことができず、それが悪いことを知っていますが、あなたはそれを本当に愛し、それが何であれ、とにかくそれをするんです。」

つまり人生を楽しむことを選んだ自分を描いているのである。

キミヤ・ドーソンとジュノのサウンドトラックに触発されて音楽を作り始めたのがわかる1stアルバムと違い、LyraにはThe Smashing Pumpkins、Sonic Youth、My Bloody Valentine、Elliott Smithなど90年代オルタナティブ・ロックやグランジから影響を受けた彼女たちの歴史がわかる所が、この2nd アルバムのと口になっていると思う。

だから聴いていてノスタルジックで馴染み深い、どこかで聴いたような感触を得られるのだろう。

2022 年 3 月 15 日、Bea は最初に彼女の Twitter でインストゥルメンタルを出して、フォロワーにメーリング リストに登録して最新リリースの最新情報を入手するよう伝えた。「 詳細をいち早く知りたい場合は、私のメーリングリストにサインアップしてください… Beatopia <3 へようこそ」

「一般的に、それ（トーク）は、必ずしも健康的またはあなたにとって素晴らしいとは限らないことをすることですが、甘やかさずにはいられないことです」と話していたが歌詞の中で、

「あなたは存在しません」/「あなたは私の想なの」は、beebadoobee が自分の心をだまして、歌で言及されている人物が本物ではないと考えさせたいのかもしれない。曖昧な誰か。ぼやかし。それは本当の自分を出したくないからかと感じる。

Beabadoobeeは、15 歳のとき、The 1975 や Måneskin の作品で知られる英国の映画監督、ソーレン ハリソンと交際を始めた。彼らの関係は約7年間続き、このアルバムリリース後の2022年6月に別れた。

Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus  (born 3 June 2000), known professionally as beabadoobee (/biːbəˈduːbiː/; bee-bə-DOO-bee),  is a Filipino-British singer-songwriter. From 2018 to 2021, she released five extended plays under the independent label Dirty Hit: Lice (2018), Patched Up (2018), Loveworm (2019), Space Cadet (2019) and Our Extended Play (2021). Her debut studio album, Fake It Flowers, was released in October 2020 and received critical acclaim. Her second studio album, Beatopia, was released on July 15, 2022.

At age 15, Laus began dating British film director Soren Harrison who is known for his works with The 1975 and Måneskin. Their relationship lasted for about seven years, and they broke up in June 2022. In July of 2022, she started dating Jacob Erland, a photographer and director. Laus dedicated “Glue Song” to him, for which Laus and Erland directed the music video.

“Talk” is an energetic guitar-driven track where beabadoobee describes her regular days where she’d often go out on a Tuesday night when she should remain at home to relax for her midweek duties for the following morning.

On March 23, 2022, she spoke with NME in an interview, where she’s depicted herself opting to enjoy life:

I wrote ‘Talk’ just after my first album. I was obsessed with Tuesday because I thought it was the best night to go out, not too much chaos but just enough to have a good time. Generally, it’s about doing things that aren’t necessarily healthy or great for you but you can’t help indulging. It’s like that unavoidable feeling that you get, you can’t get rid of it and you know it’s bad but you love it really and it’s whatever, so you do it anyway.

On March 15, 2022, Bea first teased the instrumental on her Twitter, telling her followers to subscribe to her mailing list to stay up to date on her latest releases:

This is a song I knew I could write and do well. It’s the best I am at my craft. It was the first time we all played as a band live, and it was so fun and so messy, it was great. The main riff was like “Maps” by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but the four-track demo version. The whole idea for the song is it’s a Tuesday night, and it’s like, ‘Fuck it.’ It’s not that deep. I wanted something really catchy in the chorus and something that was easy to understand. Again, I was like, ‘Let’s take the path of not taking everything so seriously.’

During a press release, Bea stated why she chose Tuesday in particular.

“I was obsessed with Tuesday because I thought it was the best night to go out, not too much chaos but just enough to have a good time.”

“Generally, it (Talk) is about doing things that aren’t necessarily healthy or great for you, but you can’t help indulging,” said Bea.

“You don’t exist” / “You’re my imagination” could be Bea trying to trick her mind into thinking that the person referenced in the song isn’t real in order to get herself away from them/get herself away from the thought of them.
