1997年にKyuss カイアスのギタリストだったJosh Homme ジョシュア・ホーミを中心に結成されたバンド。
数回メンバーチェンジをしているが、コンスタントにアルバムをリリースし、世界ツアーもスタジアムライブもしつつ、Joshは他のバンドを数個抱えており、それ以外にも有名アーティスト達とのコラボレーションも楽々とこなすバイタリティさを持つロックバンドである。

“Make It Wit Chu” is the third single and 7th track off Queens of the Stone Age’s fifth album, Era Vulgaris. It is a cover of Desert Sessions’ I Wanna Make It Wit Chu, featured on Volume 9&10. The b-sides for Make It Wit Chu are White Wedding (Billy Idol cover) and and Needle in Camel’s Eye (Brian Eno cover), besides an acoustic version for the song.
The song features Chris Goss, Liam Lynch, Brody Dalle-Homme and Serrina Sims as guest appearances on the backing vocals.

色気あり過ぎ。
Rio Hackford監督のオフィシャル・ミュージック・ビデオは、2007年10月に公開され、Josua Treeで撮影。この元ネタであるバンドDesert Sessionsがセッションをしている場所でもある Rancho De La Lunaでの撮影だから、リアルなバンドの様子を見ているかのようだ。
Lyraは、この曲を和訳するのに2ヴァージョン和訳していたんだけど、どちらを先に上げるかで迷いに迷い、Joshが Elvis並に色気を放出している(笑)MVもある為、こちらのヴァージョンを先にUPしました。
実際Joshは、このビデオのようにRancho De La Lunaに向かって車を走らせ、楽器をセットアップし、ライブをして来たのだと思う。
きっとこんな風に仲良しの友達や知人達と集まり、周りに何もないから好きなだけ音楽を奏で、歌いメンバーとプレイして、それぞれの家族や妻や恋人や子供達と、のんびり過ごして、そこから生まれたものを作品にしてきたんだろう。
Lyraもそんな休暇を送りたいわ〜と思い描いてしまう〜。
ビデオでは、バンドは、いちゃこいてるカップル達のために演奏しているから、雇われガレージバンドや、パーティーバンドの役を演じているけど、実際はこんなエロくなく、もっと和やかでファミリーな感じだ。
そして好きな音を出して、食べて飲んで…はあ、理想。わざわざ何ちゃらフェス入らない。場所があって、貴方がいれば良い。

【Make It Wit Chu】は、Queens Of The Stone Age の5枚目のアルバム『Era Vulgaris』の3番目のシングル。アルバム7番目のトラックだが、先程話したように、Dessert Sessions のVolume９＆１０に収録されている曲だった。(＊次回やるので待っててね)
この時はタイトルは【I Wanna Make It Wit Chu】で、Joshにしてみたらセルフ・カヴァーになるが、この時にタイトルを短くしたのだ。

SuicideGirlsのバンドへのインタビューによると、【Needle〜】には、Bobby Giresby が参加したらしい、、、Joshの交友関係広過ぎ〜、本当感心してしまうわ。

この曲は、人気が高いために、Queens Of The Stone Ageの5th アルバムに再録したのだから、名ラブソングは、一人歩きするんだな、と思う。求められる方向にどんどん進んでいく気がするから。
2007年MTVVideo Music Awardsで、JoshとTroyは、Cee Lo Green（ボーカル）とDave Grohl（ドラム）とともに、ファンタジースイートの1つであるThe Palms CasinoHotelで、この曲を演奏した。
ローリングストーン誌は、2007年のベスト100曲のリストの60位にこの曲を選んでいるし、ビデオゲームのGuitar Hero 5、ドキュメンタリーのWarren Miller’sPlaygroundに登場もしているのも人気の高さがわかると思う、、、ラブリーな場所には必須な曲かも？
曲の終わりには、4時31分頃から始まるキーボードが聞こえるのだが、これは同名のアルバムから除外されたEraVulgarisのコーラスで演奏されたのと同じもの。
因みに、アルバムは4:50の長さでラジオ用のシングルは3:48と短くなっている。

21世紀で最もセクシーなロックソングの1つである【Make It Wit Chu】は、メイアルバムの3番目で、最後のシングルとしてリリースされたが、多くの筋金入りのQotSAファンは、違和感を感じたみたい。
QotSAと言ったら、トレードマークであるのは、男っぽいアグレッシブな曲や強烈なサウンドだから、そこからこの曲は逸脱していると感じたようだ。
男臭い彼らが好きなファン達は、ついにQueens Of The Stone Ageも「MTV-land」の中に足を踏み入れるために作ったんだ！と思った。
でも実際は、そんな売れたい為だけに作った曲ではなかったのよ。
元はDessert Sessionsの曲だった訳だし、この曲ができたのは、Dessert Sessionsのレコーディング直前に、妻になるBrody Dalleと出会って恋に落ちたから書いた曲なのだから。
全てがリアルなJoshの想いだったんだと思う。
彼は元々、BrodyがRancidのTimと付き合っていた時から好きだったみたいだから、(後に2人は結婚)好きだった女にバッタリ出会ったら、好き過ぎて我慢できなかった思いを書いたんだと思う。
この前、海兵隊にしか見えんと書いてしまったが、、、繊細な男心に萌えてまうやろ！
実際、Joshは頑張ってモノにして結婚して、可愛い子供も3人いるしね。(何で別れたんだろ)
全て運命な感じがビンビン伝わって来るよ。

One of the sexiest rock songs of the 21st Century, “Make It Wit Chu” was released as the third and last single of the album. Upon its release, many hardcore QotSA fans felt that the song was a departure from the otherwise hard-hitting sound that was QotSA’s trademark. They felt this song was made to get a foot inside of “MTV-land.” However, the song was written because Homme had met and fallen in love with his then-to-be wife Brody Dalle just prior to the Dessert Sessions recordings The Desert Sessions Vol. 9 & 10 that spawned the song. Originally it was named “I Wanna Make It Wit Chu.”
The song was originally a track on The Desert Sessions Volumes 9 & 10, entitled “I Wanna Make It wit Chu” and with PJ Harvey on backing vocals; also appeared on the band’s live DVD Over the Years and Through the Woods before being rerecorded for their fifth studio album.
“Make It wit Chu” was announced as the second German single in a newsletter from www.qotsa.de and that it would be released on three limited editions on September 28, 2007. It was also confirmed as the band’s next international single as well. According to a report by the NME the B-sides for the single would be the “White Wedding” cover, previously released as a bonus track for Era Vulgaris, and a recording of “Needles in the Camel’s Eye” from Brian Eno’s Here Come The Warm Jets. Bobby Gillespie is reported to have been involved in the latter according to an interview with the band on SuicideGirls.
At the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, Josh and Troy, along with Cee Lo Green (on vocals) and Dave Grohl (on drums), played the song in The Palms Casino Hotel, in one of the Fantasy Suites. This song was #60 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.
At the end of the song, a keyboard can be heard which starts at about 4:31. This is the same tune played during the chorus of the song Era Vulgaris, which was left off the album of the same name.
The song appears in the video game Guitar Hero 5, the documentary Warren Miller’s Playground
Directed by Rio Hackford, the official music video for the song surfaced in October and shows the band performing to a series of couples making out. The video was shot in Joshua Tree and also shows the legendary Rancho De La Luna, where the Desert Sessions are recorded.
The video begins with Homme driving to Rancho De La Luna and the band setting up their musical instruments. They then start to perform the song. The video shows footage of the band performing along with shots of several couples making out and talking. The band appear to be performing for the couples.
In the video the guitar solo is also shorter than it is on the album.
