starcrawlarを前に紹介した時は、デビューしたばかりのホヤホヤの瞬間。あれからもう、3年以上過ぎてしまったとはね。

それだけ時が経っていれば、そりゃ、ドラム(Austin)がやめたり、新しくドラマーが入ったりとか、バンドならば色々あるだろう。

でもまさかLyraの大好きなあのQOTSAのJoshが出てるとは〜！

もう嬉しくて鼻血ブー。その上、このStarcrawlerの新曲も格好良いときたら、もうLyraのブログで取り上げなきゃｯ、ね。

と言うことで今日Music Videoが公開されたばかりの新曲を和訳&解説しちゃいましょ。

Los Angeles rockers Starcrawler have shared “Goodtime Girl” a raucous new single that is as much an addicting rollicker as it is a powerful affirmation of female strength. いやもう最高だがや。

ハッキリ言ってこれ、ヤンキー漫画意識してるのが丸わかり。

肩パッド入った短ランもどきジャケットを着用しているArrow (ヴォーカル)が、スケバンに見えてくるし(笑)〜、Henry (ギター)がArrowの通う学校と対立してる学校のヤンキーの親分なんだもの。

最後にはタイマンでバトル。

敵対校同士で喧嘩しているみたい。

「刃牙」か？はたまた「今日から俺は…」の学生達なのか？ってね、言いたくなる。

それにLyraが大好きなAmerican Horror Story みたいなピエロが出てくるのも不気味で最高だ。

そして、Danny TrejoにDavid Hasselhoff迄も出演しているなんて最高！

ここら辺のハリウッド俳優まで、味方につけているのだから、もう鬼に金棒ではないか？

多分彼らが堂々とアップで出演しているのはDanny Trejoの息子繋がりだろう。Arrowが息子と付き合っているから。

悪役から気のいいオッサンまで演じられるDanny Trejoはスペイン語圏だけでなく、アメリカで愛されている俳優だから何かにつけて、彼らをBack Upしてくれるのでは？

その上、Lyraの大好きな Josh Homme   までもバトルしているなんて、嬉し過ぎる〜！

しかし彼ほど、素手の喧嘩が似合う男いないわ〜。

「強い人好き〜Josh❣️」と叫んでしまったLyraです〜。

随分前に、Starcrawlerについて和訳＆解説した時にバンドの説明を書いたので記憶しているとは思いますが、チラッと説明すると、Starcrawlerは、2015年に結成されたロサンゼルス出身のアメリカのロックバンド。

バンドは、現在、リードシンガーのArrow de Wilde、ギタリストのHenri Cash、ベーシストのTim Franco、ドラマーのSethCarolinaで構成。彼らは2つのスタジオアルバム、Starcrawler（2018）とDevour You（2019）をリリースしている。

ロサンゼルスのロッカーである彼らは、地元愛があるようでロスアンジェルスネタを書くことが多い。

そして、女性の強さを強く主張している歌詞が多いのも特徴だと思う。

強い女、はっきりした意見をアピールしながら、中毒性のあるR&Rを発している所が魅力なのだ。

今回も騒々しいニューシングルをリリースしてくれたわけだが、この【Goodtime Girl】は、ドキドキするビートを内包したミドルの曲。

この新しいトラックは、ロマビスタレコードを介してDCコミックス【Darknight: Deathmetal】のサウンドトラックの一部として、つい最近、2021年6月21日にリリースされ、マンチェスターオーケストラ、ライズアゲインスト、マストドンなどのアーティストと一緒に収録されているのである。

トラックがその唸る泣きのギターと雷鳴のパーカッションで始まるこの【Goodtime Girl】はその中でも、猛烈なサウンドスケープでグイグイ迫って来る曲なのだ。

Starcrawlerは、TheGuardianのパフォーマンスレビューでは、「Black Sabbath のずさんな、運命に満ちたリフと、The Runnaways の緊急のポップパンク、若いLAバンドのStarcrawler は、そのDNA全体が1970年代に関連しているように見えるグループです。」と紹介されていたが、良くBlack SabbathのOzzy と比較されるのは、血糊を口から出すパフォーマンスをしていたからなの。

確かにハロウィンネタが好きなバンドだったり共通点は多いし、歌い方も伸ばした感じが似ている。でも歌声はIggy Popに似ていると思う。パフォーマンスも激しめな所もギターサウンドもIggy Pop & The Stoogesに近い。だから、イロモノのロックバンドとか、女のヴォーカルだから、とか偏見を持たずに、Iggyみたいな音が好きな人には、是非聴いて欲しいと思いますね〜。

2017年に『スタークローラーのデビュー7』、『Ants』/『Used To Know』を、赤/白のスプラッタビニールと写真スリーブ付きの限定版でリリースしたのが初お目見えだったStarcrawler。バンドのセルフタイトルのデビューアルバム『Starcrawler』は、2018年にRough Trade Recordsからホワイトビニールとブラックビニールの両方でリリースされ話題となったのを覚えている。

また、200部が別のカバーでホワイトビニールにプレスし、最初の7インチをリリース。 2018年2月16日にRoughTradeRecordsでリリースされたデビューアルバム「ILoveLA」/「Castaway」からのシングルもリリースと、力が入っていたし、ビジュアルも個性的だった。

リードシンガーであるArrow De Wild とギタリストのHenri Cashなどメンバー は、ロサンゼルスのグランドアーツ高校に通っていた。

ティーンでデビューしたせいか、今より子供ぽくて、でも不思議と堂々としていたのが印象的だった。

それはArrowが、写真家のAutumn deWildeとドラマーのAaronSperskeの娘で、写真に撮り慣れていたと言うのもあるのかな？と思った。セレブリティと言えばそれに近いし、小さい頃からの環境が、当たり前に見える世界を決めるんだとLyra自身の実体験からそう思うからだ。

今となっては、その初々しさはなくなっていて、堂々としたパフォーマンスに、このスケバン＆ヤンキー演技までしてしまうのだから(笑)、長年バンドやってます、感が半端ない。慣れたものだ。

それにStarcrawlerは、昨年マイク・キャンベルと共に Tom Petty ( 参照→ keeps staying in American DNA! -R.I.P.) & The Heartbreakers の“I Need To Know”をカヴァーした音源もリリースされていて活躍の場を広げている。

胸元に光る骸骨と花の数々をあしらった風貌でテクニックを度外視した乱暴なギターを鳴らし続ける Henriは、名前からかJohnny Cashにも見える(気がするw)。

長身が存在感があって良かったAurtin Smith (Arrowより高かったし)の脱退にはびっくりしてしまった。やはりアレが原因？

それに伴い新メンバーの座に着いた　Seth Carolina（Dr）、落ちついているけれど最年少の　Franco (B）、そしてArrow De Wild でこれから何をしてくれるのか？と新しいアルバムを期待してしまう。

Starcrawlerのこの曲はDarkNights：Death MetalSoundtrackアルバムからのものだし、Arrowは前に紹介したように他のアーティストのMVにアップで出て演技もチラッとやっていたから、Lyraは映画もこれから出演して行きそうな予感がしている。バックについているしね〜。

自分の好きなものが関連性があって広がって行く。この感覚もこの世界が大好きな理由の一つ。

もう答えが見えているのだ。

嬉しい。

どうなったとしても(って悪い意味ではない)、彼らが生き残り、活躍して行くのを応援している。

こんなに最高なロック、最高な気分ってないわ。
