誰にでもあるのか定かではないが、変化が多い月と言うのがLyraにはある。それが6月、今月だ。
変化と言っても小さい事から、人生変わるどデカい事まで多種多様。お引越しもあったし、家を建てたり、アレも…人生における様々なデカい変化が起きて来たのがいつも6月なのだ。それも祝い事ばかり〜。大切な仲良しのBirthdayもある、ある。そして、その幾つかの祝い事の中で、大切な記念日があった。だから今日は、思い出のThe Blues Brothersの曲にした。
うちには、The Blues Brothersグッズが何気に多い。良い思い出と共に自然と増えた。デッキないのに見れないレーザーDiscがうちに来たし(笑)、Blu-rayに、Tシャツに…楽しい思い出もあるし。そういえばAretha Flanklin 役のゴスペル姉ちゃんに「ワーオ、Lyraの履いてる靴イカすわ〜」って言われたのも良い思い出ね。楽しかったね〜。

ブラックユーモアに溢れた、社会をシニカルに見てる映画。始終クールにしてはいるが、始終ふざけている。ただ始終ふざけているのに、始終周りを温かく思いやる映画でもあって一筋縄ではいかん作品だ。
子供時代と、大人になってから試聴するとは大違い。社会を知れば知るほど、人間と言う生き物の温かみや、腹黒い奴らがこの世にいる愚かさを知れば知るほど、この映画への考え方が変わる、、、つまり、笑えたものが笑えなくなったり、逆に皮肉がわかる大人になったから笑えるセリフもあったり…生き様が試される映画と思う。
そんなアホさと辛辣さが流動的に楽しめる作品だが、サウンド面は、安定。一貫してブルーズとソウル、そして神への愛をゴスペルで叫ぶところは、ぶれない。
安定の極み。本気で生きて、歌い、人を愛していけば、こうなる、、、皺は負けない勲章となる。
ああ、真面目にふざけて、真面目に生きて来てよかった。そう正しく生きて来た貴方は、この映画のJoliet & Elwood Blues Bros.のように、神の啓示を見るに違いない。

映画製作・舞台裏について
『The Blues Brothers』は、アメリカのNBCの人気番組『Starday Night Live 』の、同名の人気コーナーのキャストとバンドをベースに、ストーリーをつけて映画化したもの。本国では1980年公開で、日本では、1981年3月公開。スラップスティックコメディ、アクション、ミュージカルなどの要素が入り混じる1980年代のアメリカが丸わかりになる映画である。
主演のベルーシとエイクロイドの、ブルースやR&B、ソウルミュージックなどの黒人音楽に対するオマージュが素晴らしい。
メンフィスサウンドの立役者Steve Cropperを初めとするバンドメンバーと客演ミュージシャンの顔ぶれの豪華さが話題となり、現在でも根強いファンがいる。1998年には続編『The Blues Brothers 2000』も製作された。また、映画とは若干のメンバー変更はあるものの、「ザ・ブルース・ブラザーズ・バンド」名義で何枚かのアルバムもリリースされている。
映画が公開された年と同じく1981年、主演のジョン・ベルーシとダン・エイクロイドは来日も果たしている。その際には、吉祥寺にあるライブハウスを訪れており、日本人バンドとのセッションも行っている。
世界に存在する「ユニバーサル・テーマパーク」では、主演の2人らのソックリさんを出演させたストリート・ミュージカル・ショーが、連日上演されていた。
黒いスーツ、ネクタイ、靴、レイバンのサングラス（ウェイファーラー）、ソフト帽という格好は、往年のブルースミュージシャン達へのオマージュ。その後さらにMIBやマトリックスのエージェントの格好としてもオマージュされている。
当初、148分の映画として編集され、試写会が行われたが、ユニバーサルは「こんな映画を見に来る白人はいない」とし、133分にカットされてしまった。そのため、現在DVD化に伴い、通常盤と148分のオリジナル盤が存在するのである。
因みに、Cut 部分は、劇中曲か短く編集されたほか、ブルース・モービルの車庫入れ、エルウッドの退職などのシーンが削られた。
レイア姫役のCarrie Fisherと、ヨーダ役のFrank Oz、というLyraのライフワークである映画Star Wars の重要キャラクターの二人が出演している点も見逃せない。
Band: The Blues Brothers について
The Blues Brothers 或いは、The Blues Brothers’ Show Band and Revue (ブルース・ブラザーズ )は、 John Belushと Dan Aykroyd を中心に結成されたブルース・R&B・ソウルのリバイバルバンドで、略称はBB。
メインボーカルのジョン・ベルーシがJoliet Jake Blues ジョリエット・ジェイク・ブルース、ハーモニカ/バッキングボーカルのダン・エイクロイドが Elwood Blues エルウッド・ブルース という義兄弟のキャラクターで神の救いの元に愛と救済のために、飛び回り、歌う。
活動期間は、1978年〜1982年、一時休止したのち、1988年から再活動して現在に至る。演奏のブルース・ブラザーズ・バンドには実名の一流ミュージシャンたちが参加していたため、それだけでも話題になった。
NBCの人気コメディー番組「サタデー・ナイト・ライブ」(SNL) の初代レギュラーメンバーだったJohnとDan が、音楽的趣味から始めたボーカルコンビだったことも、やらされた感のないハッピーなムードがある息の合ったライブの要因だと思う。
SNLの音楽コーナーへから、実力派のミュージシャンを集めてバンドを結成。ディスコサウンド全盛期の1970年代末に往年の黒人音楽の魅力を伝える役目を果たしたと言えよう。
1978年リリースの 1st ライブアルバム『Briefcase Full of Bluesブルースは絆』がデビューアルバムになるのだが、いきなり全米ヒットチャート1位を獲得し、グラミー賞3部門にノミネートされた。1980年にJohn Landis 監督作のこの映画『The Blues Brothers』が公開され、世界的にヒットしバンドも一躍、世界的人気を得た。
1982年John Belushiが急死してしまう。その為、しばらく活動停止となるが、残ったバンドメンバーがゲストシンガーを迎えて「Original Bluce Brothers’ Band」を結成し、世界各地でライブツアーを続けている。
1990年代にはDan と Johnの実弟 James Belushi(又は Jim Belushi)、John Goodman （Dan の親友）を新フロントメンバーとして再始動し、第31回スーパーボウルのハーフタイムショー出演、続編映画『Bluce Brothers 2000』公開（1998年）も行っている。
現在はDan とJohn の未亡人 Judith が、2012年に設立したBlues Brothers Approved Ventures LLCが管理元となり、Bluce Brothers を題材にしたレヴューやミュージカルの上演、アニメシリーズ（計画）などを展開。
フロントマンであるJake (John )と Elwood (Dan)の 黒い帽子にブラックスーツ、そしてサングラスという出で立ちで、プロミュージシャン張りの歌と踊りでグイグイと魅せるのが魅力であり、ブルーズマンたちとわたりあえるのだから凄い。本物に近づける力は、彼らには、最悪も笑いで吹き飛ばしてしまえる、笑いがあるからだと思う。そしてブルーズを愛する魂だ。

【Everybody Needs Somebody To Love】カヴァーについて
【EverybodyNeedsSomebodyto Love】の作詞作曲は、Jerry Wexler, Solomon Burke & Bert Berns。歌は、 Dan Aykroyd & John Belushi の2人がメインで歌っている。元は、1964年5月28日 にAtlanticRecordsでBertBernsの制作の下でSolomonBurkeによって録音された曲である。当時は、58位が最高位。

1964年5月28日、Solomon Burke がレコーディングし（Atlantic 2241）Solomon Burkeは、永続的な魂の基準を求める最も著名な曲になった。
Solomon Burkeは、彼がこの曲の唯一の作家であると主張しているが、ウェクスラーとバーンズからクレジットを共有するように言われたらしい。 インタビューの中で、Solomon はこの曲の起源を次のように回想している、、、

Dave Marsh は、この歌の中で、「豚のような金箔の信徒伝道者が上から証言してるが、特にテントリアンの開会の説教では、あなたが聞くべきものは、歌詞の間に大きく書かれています。つまり、Burk が歌うときに」と説明している。

On May 28, 1964, Burke recorded “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” (Atlantic 2241), written by Burke (but also credited to Bert Berns and Jerry Wexler), which was Burke’s most prominent bid for an enduring soul standard. Burke claims he was the sole writer on the song but was talked into sharing credit by Wexler and Berns.
In an interview Burke recalled the song’s origins: “I used to do it in church when I was a kid and it was a march for the offering. We would play it with tubas, trombones and the big bass drum and it sounded really joyful. I played it to Jerry Wexler and Bert Berns, who thought that it was too fast, and had the wrong tempo.”
In August 2008, Burke recalled that he had hired musicians from Charlotte, North Carolina, to play at a gig in Long Island and he drafted them in to play the instrumental riff on “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love”. Burke described the recording: “Got the band cooking, get a bit of echo, we went through it, came back out, said to Jerry [Wexler], ‘Whaddya think?’ He said, ‘Too fast. Doesn’t have any meaning.’ (Engineer) Tommy (Dowd) says, ‘What can we lose? His band’s here, let’s just cut it.'” In this song, Burke employs the style of a black preacher, in “which he begins by delivering his message in a style of a sermon, and offering salvation”.
Dave Marsh explains that in this song, “the porcine, gilt-fingered lay preacher testifies from the top but what you ought to hear is writ large between the lines, especially in the stentorian opening sermon. That is, when Burke sings “[There’s a song I sing, and I believe] If everybody was to sing this song, it could save the whole world.”
Burke made an appearance to sing the song during The Rolling Stones 2002-2003 tour, singing the song, which was included in the Stones’ 2004 live album Live Licks. It was also performed live by The Shadows of Knight, included on their LP The Shadows Of Knight – Live 1966. In addition, a live version was part of the soundtrack album for the 1980 Blues Brothers movie.
