“Gimme Some Lovin’” is a song written by Steve Winwood, Spencer Davis and Muff Winwood,^[although solely credited to Steve Winwood on the UK single label, and performed by the Spencer Davis Group. Live recordings are included on the Traffic albums Welcome to the Canteen and The Last Great Traffic Jam.

The Blues Brothers is a 1980 American musical comedy film produced by Robert K. Weiss, directed by John Landis and written by Dan Aykroyd and John Landis. It stars the late John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, along with cameos from various musicians, such as James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles, and was the first movie based on a sketch from Saturday Night Live.

ノリが良すぎて自然と体が動いてしまう曲。Lyraなんて、アドレナリンが大放出してしまうぞ〜ん。様々な有名映画やCMで使われて来たのは、この聞く者のアドレナリンが大放出してしまうくらいの、躍動感があるからだろう。

The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (ローリング・ストーンの選ぶオールタイム・グレイテスト・ソング500（2010年版）では247位にランクインしているくらい、世界中で愛されて来た曲なのだ。

数多くのアーティストたちによってカバーもされており、1番有名なのが、1980年の映画『Bluce Brothers ブルース・ブラザース』では、Bluce Brothers がこの曲を演奏するシーンだろう。そのほかに、Sam & Dave 、Olivia Newton-Johnによるカバーもある。

The Beach Boys ザ・ビーチ・ボーイズは、1972年4月4日と1977年6月23日に、Brian Douglas Wilson ブライアン・ウィルソンのリードで、この曲の吹き込みを行なったが、2014年現在、テープは行方不明とされている。日本のバンド、ザ・スパイダースは、1967年のアルバム『風が泣いている/ザ・スパイダース・アルバムNo.4』で、この曲のカバーを収録している。

 

こちらが、Lyraが好きな映画ヴァージョン！少ししか歌ってないのが、非常に残念だけど、たまらないくらいオモロいから載せちゃいますね。　↓↓

 

因みに、なぜJake(John)とElwood (Dan)達が、客に瓶投げられてライブを中断しなきゃいけなくなったかの理由は、ブルーズやソウルをやるBluce Brothers Bandなのに、金儲けしなきゃいけないからと、やっとみつけたライブハウスが、ウェスタン・バーだったからだ。

カントリーミュージックを聴きに来た客しかいないのに、バリバリなソウルな曲をやってしまった為、みんなは怒り狂ったわけです。普通の人ならば「何もこんなビール瓶や酒瓶をなげることないじゃないか？」と思うでしょう。

でもこの当時だと、カントリーを聴きたくて来ている客は(ほぽ)白人が多く、そんな彼らからしたら悪魔の音楽である黒人が歌うブルーズなんてききたくないわけですな、、、つまりチラッと分かる人には分かる、人種差別を表しているシーンなのです。

映画【Bluce Brothers】について

ブルースブラザーズは、ジョンランディスが監督し、ジョンベルーシとダンエイクロイドが「サタデーナイトライブ」の音楽スケッチから開発されたキャラクターである「ジョリエット」ジェイクとエルウッドブルースとして主演する1980年のミュージカルコメディ映画だ。

R＆Bとソウルシンガーのジェームス・ブラウン、キャブ・キャロウェイ、アレサ・フランクリン、レイ・チャールズ、ジョン・リー・フッカーのナンバーをフィーチャーしているため、彼らの動いてる場面、ちょっとした演技も見れるから今となっては、貴重な音楽の資料としても重要な作品だと思う。

この映画はイリノイ州シカゴとその周辺を舞台にしており、ジョン・キャンディ、キャリー・フィッシャー、ヘンリー・ギブソンによる音楽以外のサポートパフォーマンスも上映されていて、当時のアメリカの人気俳優とアメリカ文化がプンプン匂ってくる面白さがある。

物語は、彼らが差し押さえられてしまった、兄弟が育ったローマカトリックの孤児院を救うストーリーがメインの内容。

「神からの使命」を引き受ける仮釈放された囚人ジェイクと彼の兄弟エルウッドの贖いの物語だ。その救済のためには、リズムアンドブルースバンドのブルースブラザーズを再編成し、税務査定人に支払うために5,000ドルを稼ぐためのパフォーマンスを組織する必要があった。

その過程で、彼らは破壊的な「謎の女」、ネオナチ、そしてカントリーとウエスタンのバンドの標的にされてしまう。

その間、警察は執拗に2人を(バンドも含めて)追跡。

ラスベガス感が激しい、ゴージャスなショーですな。映画の方が好みなんですが、まあ、仕方ない。でもミュージカル仕立てで、好きなライブではあります。見たことあるんだけど、Aretha の掛け合いとか面白かったな。Aretha Flankrin役のお姉さんにLyraのファッション褒めていただいた楽しい思い出があるから余計に、良い思い出になりました。↓↓

この映画は、1980年6月20日に米国でリリースされ、レビューアグリゲーターのウェブサイトRotten Tomatoesによると、レビューの76％が肯定的で、全体的に良いレビューを受けている。

開幕の週末に500万ドル弱の収益を上げ、ホームビデオで公開される前に、世界中の劇場で1億1500万ドル以上の収益を上げているのでどれだけ人気のあるオールディーズを超えた不変の名作かが分かるでしょう。

日本では【Bluce Brothers】が賛否両論なのはわかる。ブラックユーモアの方が多いため、「面白くない」のだと思う。分かりやすい笑ならば、良いが、人種差別やアメリカの連邦警察の身勝手さ、自分達の州内ならばやりたい放題な所は、日本人にはわからないだろう。興味のある人や。チラッとでも知っている人ならば、分かる笑いが多くて一般ウケしないのだ。

だから日本人にはイマイチと言う人が多いのだと思う。

でも少しでもこだわりが無い音楽好きならば、絶対に響くものがあると思う。このエネルギーとパッション、笑えるアーティスト達のヘタウマ演技は、見る価値ありますよ。

The Blues Brothers is a 1980 musical comedy directed by John Landis and starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as “Joliet” Jake and Elwood Blues, characters developed from a “Saturday Night Live” musical sketch. It features musical numbers by R&B and soul singers James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and John Lee Hooker. The film is set in and around Chicago, Illinois, and also features non-musical supporting performances by John Candy, Carrie Fisher and Henry Gibson.

The story is a tale of redemption for paroled convict Jake and his brother Elwood, who take on “a mission from God” to save the Roman Catholic orphanage in which they grew up from foreclosure. To do so they must re-form their rhythm and blues band, The Blues Brothers, and organize a performance to earn $5,000 to pay the tax assessor. Along the way they are targeted by a destructive “mystery woman”, Neo-Nazis, and a country and western band — all while being relentlessly pursued by the police.

Released in the United States on June 20, 1980, it received generally good reviews with 76% of reviews positive according to the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. It earned just under $5 million in its opening weekend and went on to gross more than $115 million in theaters worldwide before its release on home video.

The Blues Brothers: Music from the Soundtrackwas released in June 1980 as the second album by the Blues Brothers Band, which also toured that year to promote the film. “Gimme Some Lovin'” was a Top 40 hit. The album was a followup to their debut, the live album, Briefcase Full of Blues. Later that year they released a second live album, Made in America, which featured the Top 40 track, “Who’s Making Love”.

The songs on the soundtrack album are a noticeably different audio mix than in the film, with a prominent baritone saxophone in the horn line (also heard in the film during “Shake a Tailfeather,” though no bari sax is present), and female backing vocals on “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love”, though the band had no backup singers in the film. A number of regular Blues Brothers’ members, including saxophonist Tom Scott and drummer Steve Jordan, perform on the soundtrack album but are not in the film.

According to director Landis in the 1998 documentary The Stories Behind the Making of ‘The Blues Brothers’, filmed musical performances by Franklin and Brown took more effort, as neither artist was accustomed to lip-synching their performances on film. Franklin required several takes, and Brown simply rerecorded his performance live. Cab Calloway initially wanted to do a variation on his signature tune, Minnie The Moocher, having done the song in several styles in the past, but Landis insisted that the song be done faithful to the original big band version.
