誰とは明言しないが(笑)、ダラダラLooseなサウンドでやってる人達は、メンバーの出入りはあれど、ずっと軸は変わらず相変わらずダラダラと良い出汁を放出しながら、続いている訳でしょう？

どちらが良いかなんてハッキリとした答えはないが(自分の中にはハッキリある)、

Coolで、瞬発力が高いサウンドを出す輩が、ずっと続くのが理想だ。

多分メンツよね…結局そこ。

このバンドもめっちゃ良いPunkな音を出していたのに、、、勿体ない！

今日Lyraが和訳＆解説するのは、イギリス・ウェールズのマーサー・テイドビル出身のパンクロック、オルタナティブ・ロック・バンド、Pretty Vicious プリティ・ヴィシャス。

2014年に結成し、NMEの注目を得て人気を得て、2018年にメジャーデビューした最注目バンド。

今日Lyraが和訳する曲は、2019年にリリースされた Pretty Viciousのデビュー・スタジオ・アルバムである『Beauty Of Youth』にも収録されている、2015年リリースのデビュー・シングル【Are You Ready For Me?】。

Pretty Vicious was a Welsh rock band originally from Merthyr Tydfil. The group has received attention from publications including NME and Paste. The band signed to Big Machine Records in 2018, and their new single “Move” and “Are You Entertained” were released under the label. Their debut album Beauty of Youth was released on 12 July 2019.

“Are You Ready For Me” is the official single by Pretty Vicious from the the single of the same name. The song was featured in the Pre-Alpha demo for “Episode 1” of Life Is Strange: Before The Storm.

かっこいいサウンド。

それだけでやり切ったミュージック・ビデオが、最近のゴテゴテ着飾った、色を重ねまくったビデオが多いだけに、とっても潔く感じる。

NMEや、Pasteが注目したのもわかる良い楽曲だ。

まだ若い彼らの、迷いや悩みも感じ取れるようなサウンドと、「これから世界を狙うぞ」と言う闘争心も感じられて良い。

強いて言えば、レングスが長すぎ？

Punkらしく、スパッと切り捨てるくらいの短さの方が、この曲に合っている気がする。

2019年7月12日、待望のデビューアルバム『Beauty Of Youth』をBig Machine Recordsからリリースして話題を呼んだ。

プロデューサーに You Me At Six, Twin Atlantic, Pulled Apart By Horses の作品を手がける Dan Austin を起用して、切れ味の良いPunk であり、ガレージサウンドも楽しめる作品になっている。

だがリリースしたばかりなのに、彼らは現地時間10月23日に12月で解散すると発表。

実は、アルバムリリース前の2019年5月に、ヴォーカルの Brad Giffis ブラッド・グリフィスが「個人的な健康上の問題」のためにライヴ活動から離れることを発表していた。

バンドメンバーも、Griffisが脱けることは、「全員にとって本当に難しい状況」と答えていたのが解散のきっかけになったと思われる。

「重い心境と共に僕らはバンドとして、この5年間乗り続けてきた感情のジェットコースターにこれ以上は乗ることができないと決めたんだ。アルバムを完成させた後で行ったイベントが、自分たちの誇りに思っているアルバムをプロモーションするためのものではなくなってしまったんだ」

と語っているが、一度解散して仕切り直したい気持ちから解散に至った気がした。

「あらゆる浮き沈みや試練、困難に対してバンドとして乗り越えなければいけない基本的な事柄というのがあるけど、僕らにはそれができなかった。その結果として、バンド内の関係性は修復ができないほどに壊れてしまったんだよ。」と語る。

残りのメンバーは「プリティ・ヴィシャスに伴う重荷を下ろした状態で全員が前に進むべきだという結論に至った。これまで応援してくれたファンのみんなに感謝しているよ。2020年に新たなプロジェクトで僕たち3人と会おう！」

この発表だと、やはり新ヴォーカルを迎えて、このバンドメンバーでやるから、だったら新しいバンドとしてやり直そうと言う考えだろう。

2020年の今年、新バンドをやる、と言っているならば、彼らがどんな形で帰って来るか、期待して待つしかないね。

まるでこのデビュー曲みたいじゃない？

「自分たちの人生を待ちわびていた」だなんて、正にそう。

それに、今の私たちの状況みたいにも思えるから不思議。

この曲を初めて聴いた数年前には、まさか世界中が、こんな「自宅待機しなきゃ」とか、TVも国会もスーパーも街中も、周り全員が、マスクをしてる世界になるなんて予想も出来なかったもの。

終息はまだまだ数年先な気がする。

だって小中学校は、また登校が10日伸びたんだから。

でも、Maxなままウィルスが猛威を振るうわけはないと思う。

少し収まってきたら【Are You Ready For Me】みたいに、皆が待ちわびていた感情がばくはつするかもね。

それはまた、別の意味で怖いようなw

Lyraにはこの曲が、成功へのチケットを手にした男の気持ちが生々しく表現されていると思う。

【Are You Ready For Me】って叫んだら、バン！と自分の生きたい世界に行けたら良いのに。

“Are You Ready For Me” is a song featured in the 2017 video game, “Life Is Strange: Before The Storm” during the concert in Episode 1.

and the track “Ain’t No Fun” is a part of the official soundtrack of Dirt 4.

In a statement issued 23 October 2019, the band announced that they will be splitting up and then re-emerge as a new group in 2020, without frontman Brad Griffiths, who took a break from performances after health issues happened.

The band’s last show took place at 17 January 2020, with Himalayas member Joe assisting in the show.

 

” It is with heavy hearts that we have decided that the band cannot continue on the emotional rollercoaster we have been riding for the last five years. Events since we finished the album have meant that we could not promote the album which we are so proud of. For all the highs and lows, trials and tribulations there are basic functions that a band need to be able to carry out, and we haven’t been able to do that. As a result, the relationship within the band has fractured beyond repair.

We have come to the conclusion that we all need to move on unencumbered by the baggage attached to Pretty Vicious and re-surface in 2020 like a phoenix from the ashes under a new guise and with another singer.

The three shows in December will be the last under the name Pretty Vicious.
