LyraのBirthdayの4月29日に、あげようか迷った曲が、早くも６曲目になっちゃいました。
今日は、このクールなバンドよっ！
バンドってそれぞれ、色々なイメージを持っている。メンバー個人の色が其々あるし、曲調でも雰囲気が変わる。
だが、この人たちは、一貫したカラーを持っている。
ダークカラー、一色だ。
全くブレない。
「ブレやしない、俺たちは！」と宣言していないのに、見ていて感じ取れるのは、メンバー全員が同じ方向を向いているからだろうか？

“Be Still” is a single of the third album by the American rock Band The Dead Weather.
The Dead Weather is an American rock supergroup, formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2009. Composed of Alison Mosshart (of The Kills and Discount), Jack White (formerly of The White Stripes), Dean Fertita(of Queens of the Stone Age) and Jack Lawrence (of The Raconteurs, The Greenhornes and City and Colour), The Dead Weather debuted at the opening of Third Man Records’ Nashville headquarters on March 11, 2009. The band performed live for the first time at the event, immediately before releasing their debut single “Hang You from the Heavens”.
Dodge and Burn is the third studio album by the American rock band the Dead Weather. It was released worldwide on September 25, 2015, through Third Man Records.

うー、ゾクゾクしちゃう〜♪
妖しい魅力にハート鷲掴みされる。
Jack Whiteが昔から好きって言うのが1番の理由。
それにヴォーカルの Alison MosshartもThe Killsにいた時から好きだし、バックにいるJack達三人のバンドもそれぞれ好きだから、このSuper Groupは、ある意味、Lyraには、ご褒美を貰ったみたいバンドなの。
Garage Rockの良さを全て持ち合わせているバンドだと思う。
このギリギリ感は、普通のバンドでは見れない。
そして彼らが、音楽を楽しんでいるのが見ていて伝わってくるから、好きなの。
【Dodge and Burn】は、書き下ろし8曲(全体では12曲)を収録したThe Dead Weatherの３rdアルバムだ。
Jackは、ご存知のように元White Stripesの大人気ヴォーカル＆ギタリストであり、The Raconteurのボーカルギター、そして全てのバンドの作詞作曲を担当だが、他のメンバーも人気バンドの一員である。
Alisonは、前に紹介したThe Killesだし、Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrenceもバンドを持っている中での曲作りだから、其々がライブやツアーで忙しい。
そのため、前作の2ndアルバム「Sea of Cowards』(2010年3月)から5年ぶりのリリースだった。
そのため、制作期間も2013年から2015年までと長く、彼らがじっくり曲作りをしていたのが分かる。
全ての楽曲が、丁寧に、そして、抜かりなく、全てがあるべき場所にあるサウンドだと思う。
今回は、Jackがクリエティブ面では、メイン。
そしてバンドのプレイとしては、彼はドラマーに徹している。
他にJackがやっていた掛け持ちバンドのいずれとも違い、ヴォーカルはAlisonに殆どが譲っていて、Drummerがメインで、コーラスで歌うだけだ。
そして、そのドラムも、Jackはマジなドラマーだ。
先程あげたライブバージョンのビデオのように、勢いがあって格好良くて、見ているだけでドキドキしてしまう。
ドラミングのパワフルさに見惚れてしまう。
それに、このコーラス！
本当に癖があり過ぎ！
癖になるし、後を引く耳に残る歌い方、、、
LyraはこのJackの声が大好きだ。

Alison Mosshartも、Jack Whiteも、Dean Fertita もJack Lawrence spent もバンドが各々あるせいか、集まる時に集まってThe Dead Weatherのレコーディングや曲作りをする、といった自由なスタンスで行うバンド。
五年も間が空いてしまうのも仕方がないが、そう言う自由さがあるからこそ、彼らが掛け持ちしながらも続けられたのだ。
前に紹介した【I Feel Love】をリリースしたのを皮切りに、このアルバムのツアーに出たり、The Dead Weatherの本格的活動に入ったのだ。
始まる前は、The KillsやThe Raconteursに忙しかったに違いない。その中でのリリースが、この曲になる。
The Dead Weather モードに入ったら、彼らのまとまりは素晴らしい。
まるでパーマネント・バンドみたい。
いや、こちらこそがパーマネントバンドなのかも⁉️
皆がそれぞれ、外のバンドで活躍し、力をつけて、このThe Dead Weatherに帰ってくる気がしてしまうの。
帰る場所。
ここは、居場所だ。
彼らの居場所だ。
自分が素直に居られる場所。
それが”The Dead Weather”って名前のバンドなのが、ひねりがあっていいかもね。(正気のない気候、静かな天気って感じの意味)
互いの出方を見ながらプレイしているのも素敵。
信頼関係がないと出来ないものね。
この歌詞もセクシャルな意味に取れるし、「互いの呼吸に合わす」ってところが、The Dead Weatherに合っているよ。
彼らの息のあったプレイを見てワクワクする。
これが音楽の楽しみなんだ。
居場所があれば自由に動けるもの。
そんな居場所こそが、信じられる関係のベストな姿だ。
これがLyraの理想。
自分が自分でいられる場所。
理想のHomeだ。
Dodge and Burn features eight brand new songs, along with the four previously released tracks remixed and remastered. Alison Mosshart, Jack White, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence spent their rare and sporadic free moments over the past year recording together in Nashville. Thankfully the thick and heavy Dodge and Burn will satisfy your urges for the dark magic that is The Dead Weather for a very long time. Born as a one-off collaboration between friends and tour mates, The Dead Weather has since evolved into one of the most vital and provocative bands in contemporary rock ‘n’ roll.
In October 2013, Third Man Records announced the forthcoming release of a limited edition 7-inch vinyl record containing two newly recorded Dead Weather songs. “Open Up (That’s Enough)” and its B-side, “Rough Detective,” were released exclusively in this format through the label’s record subscription service, The Vault. These two tracks were the first pair of songs to be released in vinyl-only physical form through The Vault. “Buzzkill(er)” and “It’s Just Too Bad” were released in similar fashion on November 4, 2014. These four songs and eight others would make up the band’s third studio album, Dodge and Burn. The songs were recorded from approximately July 2014 to July 2015 when members of the band had the available time or inspiration to record.The third single in advance of the album, “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles),” was made available for download on August 21, 2015. It was released on 7-inch vinyl, backed with “Cop and Go,” through The Vault in September 2015.
