今日Lyraが和訳＆解説するのは、アメリカ合衆国テキサス州ダラス出身の歌手、Maggie Lindemann マギー・リンデマン(1998年7月21日-)。

Keekのアプリやインスタで歌をあげていた時に、現マネージャーが誘い、LAに移住してから本格的に活動を始めたMaggie。

2015年から活動を始めて2016年【Pretty Girl】でデビュー。

Maggie Lindemann (born July 21, 1998) is an American singer. Her 2016 debut single “Pretty Girl” peaked at number 4 in Sweden and Belgium, number 8 in Norway and the UK and number 16 in the Netherlands.

“Friends Go” is the fifth song released off Maggie Lindemann’s debut EP and it was first teased on her social media and later acoustically at 96.5 TDY radio show in Philadelphia.

In the song, the 20-year-old singer exposes a vulnerable and emotional side of her when questioning her whole friendships throughout the years and the state of being alone thinking about past interactions with people she called friends back then. She also expresses some type of relationship with her own mind, as it is shown in ‘They say that I was the only one talking’ and ‘You’re only in my head’ that could be a hint to a friendship with herself or an imaginary friend that apparently was taken away from her.

ちょっと毒がある感じが、同性にも好かれそうだね。

次が、Lyraが見せたかった(聴かせた)Travis Barkerとコラボした方のヴァージョンよ〜。

音もアレンジを少ししてあり、違うので楽しんで〜♪

Lyraが「Maggieは、ワルぶってる感じがある」って言ったのわかるでしょう？

この気の強い感じと、太々しいのにカワイイところが、女子に人気出そうなんだよね。

このショートにしてから、Maggieのイメージがバキッ!とした感じになって、オシャレになった気がする。

もしかしたら男子ウケが良いのは、長い髪の昔の方かもしれない。

でもあのままだと、他に沢山いるPopアーティストや、Indie Popのシンガー達と区別がつかない。

このショートボブの方が、個性が強くなって、普通のカワイコちゃんではない、何かを持ってそうな雰囲気でLyraは好きだな。

音楽活動しはじめたばかりだったが、iTunesで24時間でTop20入りしたのだから凄い。

2016年1月にはYou Tubeで9千万人の視聴者を得たという。

2016年9月29日にデビューシングルの【Pretty Girl】をリリースしてthe Next Big Sound Chartで4位、Spotify26位、UKシングルチャート8位と絶好調。

2017年に【Obssed】

2018年【Human】, 【Would I】リリースし、チャートインも果たして、Sabrina Carpenterのサポートアクトとしてツアーで全国を回った。

そして2019年4月24日にこの【Friends Go】をリリース。

Maggieのインスパイアされたアーティストは、Lana Del Reyや、BanksやSpooky Blackなど、クセが強くて魅力的なインディーな雰囲気を持つアーティストだ。

「彼らはアンチPopアーティストではないわ。独自のサウンドを持っていて、売れ線を考えてない、歪んだ感じのアーティストなのよ」

と語るこの感じが、そのままMaggieの今のスタンスだとLyraは思うの。

売れ線な感じをまだ狙っていない所が、ある意味レアで、いけない子みたいなイメージを生み出していると思うから好きなの。

ただ最近Maggieの好みが変わったみたいで、インタビューで、「Panic At Disco! やNo Dobutが好き。Pop ミュージックも大好きだから、ああ言う感じをやりたいの」とも言い出しているから、もしかしたら、このロック姉ちゃんぽさは消滅しちゃうかもしれないな。

この【Friend Go】もパッと聞いた分には、Pop なアイドルなんだけど、レゲエだし一味違う。

Travisをフィーチャーした方は、ワザと音を篭らせて、ダブな雰囲気も出してるじゃない？

この感じが、The Clash狙いな感じがするわけよ、、、良く言い過ぎかしら？はは。

でもThe Clashが大好きで、Sublime好きなLyraとしては、この感じが気に入った。

Popでreggaeのヤバさも入れた曲だが、歌詞は、もっとヤバイ。

初めて聞いた時(去年の春か！はや！)普通に聞いていたら、「これ、精神病院に入れられた子の話じゃん！」とビビッた。

でも本人(Maggie)は、「これは私、私！ソングよ。人間関係を歌った歌よ」って普通の感じに話していたの。

何だか、Maggieったら隠してるのかな？ってチラッと思いましたわ、わたくし。

 

「幾つかの違った意味があるんだけど、主に、貴方を良く扱ってくれない一方通行の人間関係は良くない、って言いたいのよ。そう言う関係は、貴方を消耗させるし、そう言う人間たちは貴方を置いて行き、独りぼっちになるわ。」と話しているのが、Maggieの本音に1番近い意見だろう。

ギターを弾きながら歌うのが楽しい曲らしくて、ライブでは良く歌うらしい。

この悪さ加減がね〜、他人に思えないのよ。

本当は女らしくてカワイイ子だと思う。

でもRock好きだし〜、Rockな男も好きだし〜、てなると「ワルな子」に見えちゃうのよね、、、Lyraみたいに、、、なんてなっ！

ただワイと違うのは、Maggieはバイセクシャルなん。

2016年にカミングアウトしたのよね。でも、、、

去年の2019年からMaggieったら、アイドル・グループのPretty MuchのBrandon Arreagaと付き合い出したから、「あっれー、何だか違う〜」とLyraは、頭ん中が⁉️⁉️となっとります。

まあねー、アイデンティティを探してるのかもしれないね。

サウンドにしても、アーティストとしてのスタンスも、セックスや性のアイデンティティも。

まあ、みんな自分のことが1番わかっているようで、1番未知数なんかもしれないわ。

In an interview to Billboard, the 20-year-old singer explained everything:

I love No Doubt, Panic! at the Disco, but I also love my pop music. So I wanted to give all of that kinda in one, my own take on it.

One of the most “me” songs I think I’ve done. The vibe of it is really genuine to me and the music I listen to currently and grew up listening to. The song has a few different meanings, but I’m waiting to talk about all the meanings when the video drops because it’ll all tie in. But the main concept is, you’re in a very one-sided relationship where you’re not being treated right. It’s you constantly giving and protecting this person/object from everyone who is saying it’s bad for you. And ultimately you’ve consumed yourself in it to the point where you’re all alone and have nobody left. [It’s] my favorite song to perform. I love to play the guitar and it’s just really catchy and fun to sing and fans seem to really enjoy it too, which makes it so much better.

This song’s vibe feels like the most me, I’m really excited about it. I didn’t play [guitar] in my earlier songs but [I] have been playing electric and acoustic in my sets, which has been such a fun change. Lindemann’s debut single “Knocking On Your Heart” was released in September 2015. The song earned her a Top 20 spot on the iTunes Alternative Chart within 24 hours of its release.

Her second single “Couple Of Kids” was released on October 30, 2015. On January 29, 2016, her third single “Things” was released, earning her another successful top 25 hit on the iTunes Alternative Chart within a day of its release. The song also broke the Top 50 on the Spotify Viral 50 worldwide chart and the top 5 of the Canada viral chart. The official music video of her single “Things” was released on her YouTube channel on February 5, 2016.

As of January 2018, her YouTube channel has over 93 million views combined. On September 29, 2016, she released the single “Pretty Girl”, her first single since signing to 300 Entertainment. The song peaked at #4 on the Next Big Sound chart, and at #26 on the Spotify Viral 50 chart. Lindemann wrote the song to “show people that there’s more to girls than just being pretty. We have so much to offer. In 2019, while performing in Malaysia, Lindemann was escorted off the stage and arrested for performing without a professional visit pass, as required by all foreigners performing work in the country. She was released on bail after day, with the event organizers pleading guilty. She has described the incident as “five days of living hell”
