お気に入りバンドの1つ　Jane’s Addiction。

その顔と言って良い…てか、もう「顔！」そのものが、vocalのPerry Farrellなのどわァッ！

と、気合いが入るくらい好きなバンドなのです、Jane’s Addictionは！

このブログでも前に書きましたが、彼らは、独自の世界を持っていて、それがLyraの大好きな魔界の要素そのもので、溢れ返ってるからハマってしまったのです〜♪

見てはいけない物を見てるような妖しさ。

まるで見世物小屋的な奇々怪界がわいの心を鷲掴み。

サウンドだけでなく彼らの生活そのものまでだったから、初めて知った時は、「何だ？何だ？」とドキドキしたのよね。

Lyraは初期の彼らが好きだ。危険だったからね(笑)。

でも洗練された最近のPerry Farrelも好き。

ずっとJane’s AddicionのPerry を書いてきたから、今日は新し目で、アッと言う間に解散しちゃったけど、面白いJane’s Addiction以外のプロジェクトを和訳しましょ。

今日Lyraが和訳＆解説するのは、アメリカ合衆国カリフォルニア州で結成されたロックバンド、Satellite Party サテライト・パーティー。

 

元Jane’s Addiction ジェーンズ・アディクションや、Porno For Pyros ポルノ・フォー・パイロスのヴォーカリストの Perry Farrel ペリー・ファレルとアメリカのミクスチャーロックの先駆者であり、ヒットチャートでもランクインした Extream エクストリームのギタリストであるNuno Bettencourtヌーノ・ベッテンコートが主体となって結成したバンドである。

今日Lyraが和訳する曲は、2007年5月29日リリースのデビューアルバムであり、リリースした貴重な１枚になってしまった『Ultra Payloaded』に収録されている【Insanity Rains】。

Ultra Payloaded is the only studio album by American alternative rock band Satellite Party, released on May 29, 2007, on Columbia Records. Co-produced by Perry Farrell and Nuno Bettencourt, the album was preceded by the single, “Wish Upon a Dog Star”.

Jane’s Addictionと全く違う、スラッシャーみたいよね？

Jane’sのグループが好きだし、あのサイケデリックでありながら、民族調のサウンド入れて来たり、どこぞの国のエスニックな格好に、オムツ履いてダンスするのが、PーFunk的で好きだったの〜。

それが、このSatellite Party には薄いから寂しい事は、寂しいのだが、たまには、走りまくってるPerryも見たい、、、と言うので、彼らの唯一のアルバムから、マイナーなこの曲を選んだのです。

Nunoもまだいたしね〜。

音や画像は悪いけれど、動いてるSatellite Partyが見れるので、ライブの画像を載せておきますね。

 

 

人間関係、いろいろありますね、特にバンドは！

特に彼みたいな個性が強く、巨大音楽フェスに進化したロラパルーザを開催し指揮していくアクティブな人間について行くには、彼の世界観を全面的に信頼して受け入れる器のでかい人間か、音楽の趣味や考え方の全てが、ほぼ彼と同じ人間、、、と言うか同種族の人間じゃないと無理よ。

その例に漏れず、せっかく一緒にやる筈のNuno(リード・ギター)は、脱退してしまう。

「いっつも疎外感を味わっていたから、居心地悪くて。やっていられなくなったんだよ」とNunoが言うのも無理もない。

Nunoは、ギタリストとして才能が溢れる人だし、ExtreamではファンクとHMの良いとこ取りのサウンドをしているが、彼のソロワーク,他バンドでは、古臭いロックを作るので、Lyraも好きなミュージシャンだ。

だが、Perryみたいなサイケデリックな妖怪じゃあ、ない。

Perryについていけるタイプではないと思うし、そもそもリード取りたいタイプだから人について行くのが嫌な人じゃないかしら？

それにメンバーに奥さんいるし〜とか気にしちゃうタイプの人は、ダメだよね。

 

宣材写真とかも、Perryと2人で移る時は、普通だけど、みんなで写真撮ってる物は、Nunoがはじに追いやられているから、かなり自由がなかったのか？

同じタイプなら分かり合えるんだけどね。

見るからに違う。

それに同じタイプの人間って、中々いないもの。

運良く居たとしても、分かり合えない性格の人も居るし…逆に秒で仲良くなれる人もいる。

いたら貴重よね。

大切にしましょう。

1987年、ライブ・アルバム『Jane’s Addiction』をインディーズのトリプルX・レコードからリリース。

Warner Bros.Recordsと契約して、1988年にLyraが大好きなアルバムである『Nothing Shocking』をリリースして、メジャーデビューした。

独特の世界観は好き嫌いハッキリ分かれる。

LAで大人気になり、知る人ぞ知るバンドになる、、、が、このアルバムではブレイクはまだしていなくて、メジャー第2弾である『Ritual De Lo Habitualリテュアル・デ・ロ・ハビテュアル』で、大ブレイク！

シングルの【 Been Caught Stealing】 (→和訳 A Guy Seeking Truth 真理の探究)がMTVでヘビロテされたり、コアなファンが増えて、大ヒットし認知度が上がったのだ。

だがメンバーのドラッグ問題や、人間関係から1991年に解散。

その後にPerryとSteveが、Porno For Pyrosを結成し、Daveはしばらくの間、Red Hot Chgli Peppers・に在籍していたことは有名でしょう！

1997年、Fleaを迎え、短期間だけ再結成。

新曲も含むコンピレーション・アルバム『ケトル・ホウィッスル』を発表。

2001年に新しいベーシストとして、Chris Chaneyと再結成し、新アルバム『ストレイズ』もリリースしたが、2004年に3度目の解散が決まる。

その時に結成したのが、このSatellite Partyなのだ。

この時もDaveは、SteveはPerryがこのバンドで活動している間、The Panic Chunnelを結成している。

2008年またJane’s Addictionは、活動再開(笑)。

2011年、8年ぶりのスタジオ・アルバム『The Great Escacape』リリース。

 

このSatellite Partyには、2005年のロラパルーザに出演していた、No Doubtのベーシストであり、Gwen Stefaniの元旦那のTony Cannalが、入る予定が、やめてしまい、その代わりにNunoやFlea、John Fruscianteに、元RHCPやPeal JamにいたドラマーJack Ironsや、Black Eyed PeasのFergie、Joy  Division、New OrderのPeter Hook　Porno for Pyros  のギタリストPeter DiStefano、 Hybrid、Thievery Corporation などが参加している。

おまけに最後に、Jim Morrison ジム・モリソンの録音済みのボーカルパフォーマンスも入っている面白いアルバムだから、かなり貴重だとLyraは、おすすめしちゃいます。

多分Jane’s Addictionよりわかりやすくて、聴いたことない人には良いかも！

それに、

「あらゆるロックの要素が詰め込まれた、健全なロックンロールに仕上がっている」とPerryと言っている通り、面白いストレートなロックが聞ける。

この【Insanity Rain】が狂ったようなパーティーの歌。

これを聴いて、みんなも騒ぎまくってね！

The album features contributions from artists such as John Frusciante and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas, former Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons, Joy Division/New Order bass guitarist Peter Hook, Porno for Pyros guitarist Peter DiStefano, Hybrid, Thievery Corporation, and finally a pre-recorded vocal performance provided by Jim Morrison. There is also a 30 piece orchestra on four of the tracks, led by Harry Gregson-Williams. The full album was leaked on May 22.

The album entered the charts at #91 on the Billboard200 with about 8,000 copies sold

Satellite Party was an alternative rock band formed by Jane’s Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell following the break-up of Jane’s Addiction in 2004. Other members included Carl Restivo (bass) and Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell (backing singer and dancer). The band was initially formed as a collaboration between Farrell and Extreme member Nuno Bettencourt, however Bettencourt departed from the project in July 2007.

The album includes a “lost song” titled “Woman in the Window” with vocals by the late Doors frontman Jim Morrison. The album itself was preceded by the single, ‘Wish Upon a Dog Star,’ under the collaboration with Hybrid’s lead track off their I Choose Noise LP, “Dogstar.”

In late July 2007, guitarist Nuno Bettencourt left the band, stating, “I have always felt uncomfortable with the direction of the lineup and live show. I truly do believe in the songs and music on the album, and I wish Perry Farrell and any musician that remains on tour all the best.” Drummer Kevin Figueiredo also left to join Nuno in reuniting Boston Hard Rock Band Extreme. Silvertide guitarist, Nick Perri, and drummer, Jordan Plonsky, joined the band for the remainder of the tour.

The band later parted ways with Columbia Records, and began working on new material. However, in 2008, Farrell reunited with Jane’s Addiction putting Satellite Party on indefinite hiatus.

In 2012, Farrell discussed his aborted plans for a Satellite Party play, stating, “I was actually working on something, a project a couple of years ago, that was actually a Satellite Party. It had to do with The Doors. I even got to produce a song, a previous unproduced and unrecorded song, by The Doors, and I wanted to do this beautiful play called “The Satellite Party” in Vegas. It didn’t work out.”
